2013 was another great year for craft’s continued growth (or contribution to the brewing bubble, depending on your perspective).
Craft Beer sales in key U.S. retail channels grew 19.2 percent in 2013, according to new data from Chicago-based market research firm IRI.
That’s off-premise sales, but restaurants and bars are definitely noticing the continued impact of craft on-premise as well.
According to the on-premise data supplier, craft beer grew 4 percent by volume in 2013 while dollar sales rose 7.1 percent. GuestMetrics, which uses the Brewers Association definition for craft beer, also said the craft segment gained 2.2 points of share from the overall beer category in 2013.
A 2.2 share change is a pretty big deal in my view. That’s all coming straight from have been Big Beer’s strongholds.
Here’s to another year onward and upward!
